Mia has a somewhat complex personality. She is typically a very calm and patient girl. She is usually very respectful and poised when around others. She speaks in a confident and controlled manner when addressing others. Normally everyone is her equal, no matter their titles or status Maria tries to treat everyone the same. She finds humor in sarcasm and enjoys a good challenge of wit. In truth she is a rather intelligent young woman who has a nicely level head on her shoulders most of the time. That last phrase being the key to what one will discover when they get to know Maria Kurosu.

She is a driven young woman with big goals for herself. She is determined to prove that she can be a leader and often attempts to keep control of most situations. In fact, she is a bit of a control freak who enjoys the feeling a bit too much. Having control means having power, which is something she craves quite a bit. At times she is also somewhat manipulative, if only to get her way in most situations. She is also full of a number of secrets, Maria is good at both making them and keeping them.

While typically in the public eye she is the ideal young woman. Feminine in her action, gentle, caring, and poised in her mannerisms. However, behind the mask she wears lies the heart of a demon to say the least. The very term bad apple comes to mind in fact. Mia has a cold anger that is quick to be unleashed, like a sudden blizzard. The girl gives no mercy to those she dislikes, her actions are typically violent when her rage is unleashed and she has the skills to follow through with her threats. Those who cross her are certainly among the most unfortunate creatures on the face of the planet. She is certainly a sadistic little lady. Her pride tends to be her biggest weakness though, she tends to explode the most when she feels her abilities are attacked.

Some would say that Maria is a cold hearted witch, but that really isn’t the case. The girl is extremely guarded. She is truly very gentle and loving at her core. Her loyalty is her strongest feature. She will go through the flames of hell itself to help and protect someone she loves, but she lacks the ability to properly show that she cares. Saying things like “I like you” and “I’m sorry” are just not in her vocabulary. She often shows her emotions through action, rather than words.

Maria Kurosu, a half American and half Japanese girl born into a strong and notorious Yakuza family. She was raised by her father and the “family” he ruled over. Her mother was a figure she never met and more importantly was long forgotten by the men and women who raised her. Her life has always been on the darker side of the tracks, between her father’s business and more importantly her own heritage. In the eyes of the ever traditional Japanese underground world, Maria’s existence is a major disappointment. Her father could not protect her from the negative accusations and beliefs that came from her American blood, but she never truly needed that either. In the darkness of Japan’s crime circle, a girl like her had to have a thick skin. She discovered this early on in life.

Before she ever started school Maria began training to someday become a proper successor to her father’s organization. She quickly traded her dolls and dress up clothes for swords and kimonos. She began training in martial arts, after constant pleas to her father. She was constantly working to improve her skills and better herself. The girl developed an iron will and a delicate finesse for the underground world of business, but there were still difficulties she faced. The first being her father’s protective bubble. She was constantly kept under the man’s watchful eye and surrounded by a number of his men for her own well-being. The second was that she was a girl, in a very traditional and male dominated world.

She eventually began to rebel against her father. She started fighting in her middle school years. Her father only tightened his leash on her though which drove Maria to pull harder to break away from his grip. She was in some ways like a wild dog, getting out of control. Eventually her drive to prove herself as a capable heiress landed her at the table of an extremely important meeting with her father. Many of the men there looked down at the idea and this lead to a war between her family and others. A proposition between one of the warring family leaders and Maria’s father was struck up in order for the two of them to merge and bring a bit of peace back between them, Mia was forced into an arranged marriage.

Mia was anything but complaisant, but her father assured her that it was for the good of the family and her sake. As an attempt for maintaining peace within his own household her father bought her a pet pot belly pig named Suki and made arrangements for his daughter to transfer to Ouran Academy. While there she would be free to do as she pleased, so long as she agreed to marry upon graduation. She accepted the terms with hesitation, but knew it would be the only way she could live with control of her life and perhaps prove her worth to her father once and for all.

Now a third year Maria has experienced a great deal at the academy since transferring a year ago. She has become the Captain of the Judo club and an active member of the Student Council with the position as Vice President. She also indulges in the guilty pleasures of occasional parties, causing a bit of chaos on the campus grounds, and paying the rare visit to the Host Club. She has yet to meet her fiancée officially, but she is aware of one important bit of information…he attends Ouran Academy as well.
