HISTORY
Kotone was born in Normandy, France, to a young Japanese couple who were attempting to fulfill their dream of travelling all around Europe. Her birth was unexpected and premature, but Kotone’s mother, Nanami, insists that the child had been perfectly ready to come out. And so she had, with barely any crying at all; rather, a lot of cheerful smiles followed the girl’s birth. Her parents weren’t particularly wealthy at the time, but Kotone’s grandparents had more than enough money to last a lifetime of spending and luxury. On both sides, they insisted that their only grandchild would attend a prestigious school and grow up understanding that great things were expected from her. Kotone took it all in stride once she was old enough to understand what they wanted from her; the girl didn’t mind. She wasn’t very ambitious, but making people happy was one of the most important things to her, especially friends and family (although strangers were included as well).
Therefore, Kotone attended a college preparatory academy in Europe during her years of middle school-- previously up until then, she had been going to private school in Japan. As a foreign exchange student, Kotone was able to learn English and a bit of French, due to the fact that her academy was located near London. Those were some of the happiest years of her life, since the student had set out with a determined and perhaps overly cheerful disposition, which suited her just fine when times came where children began to sort themselves into groups. Somehow, Kotone managed to be a part of nearly every group but yet still remain friends with others; she refused to take sides for the most part, or simply took both. The semesters passed quickly, however, and soon enough the grandparents were once again calling for Kotone to move back to Japan, where she would continue her studies at the prestigious Ouran High School. She expects it to all be a wild adventure, for the most part, and is going in with a bright attitude and a great curiosity as to what the other students will be like.
