HISTORY
Serena always had a weird sense of fashion, her eye patch does not really count to that. It's not like she had a dramatic childhood with maybe someone stabbing out her eye and resulting in her having to cover it up or something. No no, her story is much more smooth. She was born in America, in Maine to be exact. If you never heard of Maine.. Well, it's cold and boring there. Serena did not belong there, and she knew it. Her personality was too bright for such a gloomy town. But she stayed for the sake of her parents. Her school life was pretty ordinary, she did not get bullied, she wasn't as popular and had an acceptable amount of friends.
However what life story would this be if there would be nothing happening? At the age of sixteen, Serena was diagnosed with a kind of rare eye cancer. After a long chemo, different therapies and what not, they finally had to take out her right eye. It was dramatic for her and a huge shock. Just imagine being sixteen, you just want to hang out with friends and suddenly your eye gets so blurry and painful you want to rip it out. That is how Serena found out something was wrong and also how she ended up in the hospital for the next year. The time in the hospital was not really nice either. Maine is already a boring town, just imagine the hospitals. At least they had a nice deco..
Well that is, however, the reason why she has this eye patch. After this incident, she continued school and graduated one year later than her friends because of this 'break'. Afterwards, she researched her family's background and history and what not. She already knew they were from Japan, so Serena spent 4 years learning Japanese while attending university to get her Fine Art diploma and afterwards went to Japan. While learning Japanese, she discovered more and more of the culture and was truly amazed by it. Serena decided to live in Japan and after a few more years got all of the academic stuff to be able to teach art and literature, it was that important to her, she got the best grades out of all the others. Shortly after, she applied as teacher on Lobelia Academy and got accepted. An all-girl academy did sound like fun to her after all.
